Here are some tips to use data to drive your coaching conversations.
- Review your telematics data to identify key safety behaviors and set achievable goals. Common telematics metrics include speeding, harsh braking, sharp turns, distracted driving, excessive drive-time, and overnight trips. Read our Best Practice Guide for Harsh Turns and Cornering to learn about how you can help your drivers handle driving around corners to reduce the risk of a costly accident.
- Run reports within your online telematics portal or dashboard to summarize these metrics:
• Consider searching one month at a time for simplicity.
• Ensure your search includes all drivers (or vehicles) enrolled in your telematics program, even those who drive infrequently or use personal vehicles
• Identify drivers or vehicles with the most concerning unsafe events first—either by volume (e.g., frequent harsh braking) or severity (e.g., a 99 mph speeding event).
• Look for patterns of repeated unsafe behaviors. - Need help running reports? Please read our FAQ about running reports here.
